Writing, Math, and Aerodynamics...as in feathers.

Vol 6 No.3 "combo" cover
Well, finally got around to getting a copy of Beckett's MOG, at my usual Boston Book'n'Coffee place, but not for the free item code: I've already stitched the 'unsightliness' out of my Celestian attire. I mean who decided that teal trim goes with everything?!? Seriously? Teal, Aqua,Turquoise, however you want to quantify it. I mean Turquoise is "*so* 2010".

But I digress...

No, I did not get it for the Celestia robe. I got it for the articles. One *particular* article, in fact, by a certain well-known Necromancer, of the Friendly persuasion.

Now, of course, as any proper nemesis would do, I went straight to the article, searching for my next avenue to poke at Mr.Mancer, but alas, no loopholes to extract. No misquotes. Heck, even grammar, spelling, and punctuation were in order, gosh darn it! Graphics, stats, historical context, *everything*. Everything except, of course, shameless self-promotion. He doesn't roll like that.

So, I'll have to concede this one to Thomas Lionblood: he writes a pretty spiffy article.
Which, when you think of it, comes as no surprise, right? After all, he's been writing W101 for years, now. I'll bet if he ever fell asleep in his easy chair, Bailey Skystaff could transcribe Tom's sleeptalking into a W101 article. :) And, word has it, Tom has "more Beckett's on the way", so keep an eye out.

I, for one, look forward to it. He deserves as much. If you haven't yet acquired a copy of MOG29, you should. Friendly represents us well, and we in turn, should support him.

And let's not forget our dear DittoMonster at MMOCrunch, either, talking about "Social Gaming", (lol, ‘SquirrelVille’! ).

It's good to see friends from our community succeed.

Anyhow, it's (still):

So, how about we get on with...
"Uh, Autumn? The title said "Writing, Math, and Aerodynamics...as in feathers.", and you only covered writing..."
This is very true. "Writing", in this case, is unrelated to the other two.
"But we're past the contest banner..."
That is an exceptionally astute observation.
"Oh, no."
Oh, yes.
"You wouldn't"
I would, and I will.

Here's today's "Hints":There are now 12 (of 14) code pieces to gather! Only *2* left, after this. Getting close!

Hint#11: Ironic that this is a Mount Contest. I used to *question* the very idea of mounts in W101. Glad my concerns were unfounded: Sometimes, I'm *happy* to be wrong:
Did you *really* think there would be no 'Homework'?
Hint#12: " In the digital world of blogging, you and I read in ASCII(TEXT), but the computer only sees BINARY '1's and '0's, ( Example: " Hi! " to you and me (decoded), is " 01001000 01101001 00100001 " to a computer. If only there were a way to translate binary like this: 01010100 00111101 00110111

Previous Hints: ( and Original Contest post&Rules )
Hint #1 (*modified*) "If you're looking for my BLOG 'followers', you won't see them, but you will find something else"
Hint #2 "The post where HiaG all began"
Hint #3: "I love pop-culture references! Have you heard Merle Ambrose's bloopers? (May, 2010)
Hint #4: "I have advice for young W101 bloggers (July, 2009)
Hint #5 : " 'Quoth the raven' graphic to the right leads to a feather in conTEXT"
Hint #6 : "Feathery flapping wings go "swish" (March, 2011)
Hint #7 : "Have you met my daughter, Ashley Duskhunter?"
Hint #8 : I love the dueling circles in Housing! It's an Item I've wanted for a long time (June 2009)

Hint # 9 : "When reading a thought-provoking post, like 4/4/11, you should also read the comments."
Hint#10
: "I'm curious. How exactly *does* a skeleton speak? Maybe I'll ask Mr. Sternum."

Heh, that's a dirty trick, making us do math during spring break, but the payoff is worthwhile. ;)

That was good. I wish i had to jump start my brain cuz I hate math, but it did the answer by its self!

Your expected answer: Math? Oh, no....

My answer: Math? Yes, yes, yes, give it to me, 'cause I love math! :D *answers question in head*

Okay... enough of that. I've never heard of "Massive Online Gamer," so maybe I'll poke around and look for a copy somewhere in stores nearby or something.

@Drakkis: Sorry. I'm terrible with math. If only you knew how many times I double, triple, quadruple -checked those before posting, lol.

@Ryan: Math? "Yes?" Ugh. 'Nuff said.
Yes, definitely do look up MOG, often has codes for W101 in-game items, like my (now antique) Amarinthine Staff.

Very cool contest!

For hint number 11 it says part 2, since its part two shouldn't there be a part 1. Could you clarify that a little?

@Steve: Thank you!

@pjrg66: The "part 2" is a signifier that it's an extension of the Text ("Hint#11").
I can understand the confusion over my less-than-crystalline thought process.

okay is the "Forge" the metaphor for when you can punch in the code and try and redeem the swiftshadow wings? because currently i am only f2p and i have no money to actually meet somewhere other than wizard city (and Triton ave. as well as Unicorn way) i would just like a little re-assurance... please and thank you...

Fatal Exception said...

@J3W, "The Forge" is indeed the metaphor you describe.
*When* the winners are announced, they will 'comment me thee emal address (will not be published), and you will be emailed the wing code, and the redeem url. There is no prerequisite that necessitates an in-game location.

Exciting!
